On November 11, Canadians pause in a moment of remembrance to honour the courage and sacrifice of all veterans who have served our country. Today, schools across our district will host ceremonies to commemorate Remembrance Day.

November 8th is Indigenous Veterans Day. It is a time to remember and commemorate the stories and contributions of Indigenous veterans in wars and conflicts past and present. It also serves as a reminder of the struggles and inequality they faced upon returning home to Canada. To learn more, please check out some resources by clicking on the headline of this news story.

The month is about raising awareness for adoption and permanency in British Columbia and celebrating the families that provide children and youth with love and support as permanent members of their families. Halloween is a favourite holiday for many children. But after the fun of trick or treating is over, how do we approach all the leftover sweets? Involving children in managing their Halloween treats can actually be a great learning opportunity for them to regulate their own eating and support a healthy relationship with food.
